• The 5, 25 and 50 mcg figures are liothyronine equivalents per tablet. Mcg means micrograms, mg means milligrams, and 1 mg equals 1,000 mcg. Never detach a pack number from its unit, read 25 mcg as 25 mg or use it to calculate a tablet count.
• The 25 and 50 mcg tablets are scored; the 5 mcg tablet is unscored. This site does not treat a score as permission to self-split. Ask a pharmacist about the exact product, prescription, dose accuracy, uniformity and storage before splitting.
• Thyroid-hormone overtreatment may increase heart rate and precipitate angina or arrhythmias. Risk is higher in older adults and people with cardiovascular disease, and the label specifically notes atrial fibrillation. Chest pain, marked palpitations, fainting, breathing difficulty or acute confusion requires prompt local care and emergency help when severe; do not self-stop, switch or catch up.
