- Older adults, people living alone, those with falls or night-time rising, and people using another antihypertensive should have the exact pack, blood pressure, dizziness or syncope and full medicine list reviewed; do not use the page to move from 1 mg to 2 mg or 5 mg.
- The label explains that adding a diuretic, beta blocker or another antihypertensive may increase hypotensive effects. Self-spacing does not prove that risk has disappeared and cannot replace prescriber review.
- Related alpha blockers and PDE-5 inhibitors may have combined blood-pressure effects. If MINIPRESS, HYTRIN, CARDURA, FLOMAX, RAPAFLO, UROXATRAL, CIALIS or VIAGRA appear on one list, seek review rather than self-alternating or combining them.
- Syncope, an injurious fall or severe weakness needs timely medical assessment. An erection lasting more than four hours is an FDA-labelled emergency signal requiring immediate local emergency care.
