- 1, 2 and 5 mg are labelled amounts per delayed-release tablet, not tablets per dose. Although two 1 mg numbers add arithmetically to 2 mg, that does not permit self-substitution for one 2 mg tablet, prescription assembly or a change to a taper.
- Do not self-break, cut, crush or chew RAYOS. It is unscored and the label explains that delayed release depends on an intact coating. If swallowing is difficult or the prescription needs a lower strength, ask the pharmacist or prescriber to review the exact product and feasible options.
- Do not abruptly stop, copy another person's taper, or self-convert milligrams with MEDROL, dexamethasone or regular prednisone. Corticosteroid, release pattern, duration and individual circumstances differ; stopping or conversion requires the treating professional.
- Infection exposure or fever, vision change, marked mood or behaviour change, black stools or vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, marked swelling or breathlessness need prompt medical contact. Breathing difficulty, swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat, fainting or another critical feature requires immediate local emergency care.
