- Dizziness, double vision, somnolence, coordination and balance problems can increase fall risk. Older adults or people using another sedating or antiseizure medicine should have the real packs, gait changes, fall history and full medicine list reviewed together.
- VIMPAT can affect the PR interval and is associated with AV block, bradycardia, ventricular arrhythmia and syncope. With heart or conduction disease, or beta blockers, calcium-channel blockers, potassium-channel blockers, sodium-channel blockers or other conduction-affecting medicines, the label sets ECG and monitoring boundaries that the site cannot replace.
- Do not abruptly stop or rapidly self-reduce. Sudden antiseizure-medicine withdrawal can increase seizures, and the Medication Guide warns of status epilepticus. The site provides no taper and cannot convert, rotate or combine VIMPAT one-for-one by milligrams with KEPPRA, LAMICTAL, TEGRETOL or another product.
