• Each light-pink active tablet contains drospirenone 3 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.02 mg; the white tablets are inert. The 3 and 0.02 figures are not added into one comparable strength, and 24, 4, 28 and three blisters are not an individual's tablet count.
• The boxed warning states that women over 35 who smoke should not use YAZ and that smoking increases serious cardiovascular-event risk with combined oral contraceptives. Chest pain, breathing difficulty, one-sided leg swelling or pain, sudden neurologic symptoms or another acute serious concern requires immediate local emergency help, not a web decision.
• Drospirenone has antimineralocorticoid activity. Adrenal, kidney or liver problems, or co-listing potassium, potassium-sparing diuretics, spironolactone, an ACE inhibitor, ARB, aldosterone antagonist, heparin or long-term daily NSAID use requires priority review of potassium and the complete medicine list.
