• 2 mg and 4 mg are labelled amounts per capsule, while 30 is the bottle count. Although two 2 mg numbers add to 4 mg, that does not permit self-assembling capsules, changing an amount, replacing a 4 mg product, making up a dose or copying another person's prescription.
• Swallow the capsule whole with liquid. The label does not turn capsule appearance, lack of a score or ‘extended release’ into permission to open, chew, crush, divide or sprinkle it. For swallowing difficulty, take the exact pack and prescription to a pharmacist or prescriber for an appropriate plan.
• Dry mouth, constipation, abdominal pain, blurred vision, dizziness or drowsiness are important label adverse-effect cues. Older adults, people with cognitive impairment or fall risk, and those using sleeping, allergy, nausea, bladder or other anticholinergic medicines need priority review of the complete medicine list.
• Urinary retention, gastric retention and uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma are labelled contraindications. Gastrointestinal obstruction or reduced motility, myasthenia gravis, liver or kidney impairment and a history of QT prolongation also need to be disclosed.
