- The FDA label explicitly says SPIRIVA capsules are only for oral inhalation through the HandiHaler device and must not be swallowed. Seeing an “18 mcg capsule” does not make it an oral medicine or interchangeable with any swallowed capsule.
- The label contains product-specific device information. This page does not repeat or generate an inhalation count, device steps or individual-use instructions. Do not apply steps for another inhaler, nebuliser or “similar capsule” to this product; ask a pharmacist or clinician to demonstrate with the actual device.
- The label describes long-term maintenance treatment and says it is not for relief of acute bronchospasm. Sudden or worsening breathing difficulty is not a situation for self-escalation, substitution or waiting for a webpage; follow local emergency and care-team guidance.
